5 Tips To Ensure Proper Gym Layout Planning
Launching and maintaining a gym is not an easy task. You will have to work hard to make sure your gym meets industry standards. You will also have to maintain a checklist of Do’s and Don’ts to keep your gym world-class!
An improper gym setup can lead to injuries or even worse, death. Therefore, it’s necessary to follow a set of guidelines to ensure the smooth running of your gym while keeping your reputation intact.
Here are 5 tips you should keep in mind while planning a gym layout:
1) Your customer should be given top priority!
Always give top priority to the safety and comfort of your patrons. Do all you can to provide them with the perfect exercising experience.
2) Give importance to the distance between machines
Maintain a fair amount of distance between two fitness machines. Many fitness machines require the user to do a fair amount of stretching. Ensure you allocate enough space for exercisers to move around and stretch.
A cluttered gym area is not only a big turn-off but a big risk for injuries as well.
3) Don’t mount television screens at inaccessible areas
Mount television screens to a wall that is at least 7-10 feet away from the user. A user straining his or her neck to the side to view the screen could potentially end up exercising with an improper form. He could end up losing his balance, resulting in injury.
4) Place cardio equipment in an organized manner
Make sure you align the cardio equipment ranging from shortest to the tallest. Ensure that there is proper spacing in the back, front and sides. Ideally, a gap of 18 inches between treadmills, ellipticals and stationary bikes will be just fine.
5) Give special attention to free-weight areas
The free-weight area needs special attention while being set up. Maintain the mirrors in a proper manner to assist exercisers. Make sure the equipment is properly positioned in relation to the lighting. For example, lights above a free-weight bench can be distracting and should be avoided.
